Cinco de Mayo is less than a week away, which means it’s time to start planning your fiesta featuring the perfect taco bar! There are so many amazing options, so we recommend asking your family and friends to each bring their favorite topping for a wide assortment of options!
To start, you have to decide whether you want beef, chicken, pork or fish tacos... For our fiesta we chose them all! As a rule of thumb, one pound of any of these proteins serves approximately 4-5 people, so for your Cinco de Mayo fiesta you will need to plan accordingly! Below are our favorite options, enjoy!
The perfect Taco Bar Fiesta: serves 4
- ¼ lb. ground beef or your favorite steak
- ¼ lb. chicken
- ¼ lb. pork
- ¼ lb. fish (Mahi Mahi is our fave!)
- 8 taco shells or tortillas
- Cheddar cheese
- Mexican Cheese Blend
- Salsa or Pico de Gallo
- Chopped onions
- Black bean and corn salsa
- Chips! To scoop up your left over taco, guac and salsa!
Cooking your protein (cook one at a time)
In a skillet, over medium heat, melt butter or cooking spray. Add ground beef, steak, chicken, pork or fish. (Cooking each protein one at a time.) Add chopped onions for added flavor and your favorite seasonings. We recommend taco or fajita seasoning. Sauté meat or seafood until the meat is browned or seafood is no longer opaque. (Fish should be a white color.) Drain the grease from the pan and place the meat or seafood on a plate. Spoon onto a tortilla or taco shell. Garnish with your favorite fiesta toppings and enjoy! Olé!
