Baked Salmon with a Sweet-Soy Marinade

Cooking salmon sounds complicated, right? Here’s the great news: it doesn’t have to be! This recipe is so simple that anyone could do it. We can promise that as soon as you whip this up, it will become your go-to meal & will end up in your weekly dinner rotation.

 

This recipe is a delicious way to prepare your fresh salmon and only use a few ingredients that you’ll almost always have available in your pantry. The best part? This recipe is super healthy, high protein, and packed with ingredients that are great for you. It’s safe to say that this no-guilt meal will have you coming back for more!

 

Baked Salmon with a Sweet-Soy Marinade

Yields: enough marinade for 2-3 salmon filets 

  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. of butter, margarine, or earth balance buttery spread
  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  • 4 Tbsp. soy sauce (or a low sodium alternative)
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil

 

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl or cup, mix all of the ingredients above together.
  2. In a shallow dish or plastic bag, place your salmon filets flat and let them soak in the marinade.
  3. Place them into the fridge to keep cool, and let them soak in the marinade for about 30 minutes.
  4. In the meantime, preheat your oven to 450 degrees.
  5. After the marinade is set in (about 30 minutes), place the salmon filets on a non-stick baking sheet with the excess marinade poured out on top.
  6. Bake until the salmon is cooked all the way through. This should take about 12 to 15 minutes.
  7. Take it out of the oven and serve it immediately. This dish pairs perfectly with a side salad or roasted vegetables.
